This is a new and exciting role. We are building our capabilities in designing and delivering media strategies for our clients and we need someone to join the team who has deep expertise in programmatic media alongside experience in other areas of digital paid media. 

The Head of Programmatic Media will develop and oversee the delivery of paid media strategies for clients across channels including programmatic (display, video, VOD, audio, DOOH), search and paid social as well as advising on the deployment of technology and data. You will need to identify and recruit the right talent needed to deliver the vision of our future media capabilities and then work closely with the Media Operations Director to identify and capitalise on all opportunities for growth. We believe in the close relationship between media, technology and creative and the Head of Programmatic will work closely with stakeholders in all areas and drive collaboration that benefits our clients and delivers growth for their businesses.


The Head of Programmatic Media will be creating an entirely new set of client services and setting up a new team. As such you will be responsible for delivering: 

  • Opportunity planning to identify clients with greatest potential for using our media services
  • Resourcing planning
  • A team of people who are motivated, talented and delivering great work
  • Market leading programmatic and broader media strategy
  • Excellent partnerships with vendors and clients
  • An evolving menu of media services to include new and emerging programmatic environments
  • A clear approach to media planning in collaboration with Client Planning
  • High quality media strategy, planning and activation
  • Work with senior clients and consult on key strategy projects



  • Extensive experience within a paid media role
  • Significant relevant experience within programmatic marketing including hands on activation experience
  • Experience of a range of programmatic environments (display, video, audio, DOOH, ecommerce)
  • Expert understanding of cross-channel digital paid media
    • particularly how programmatic media fits into a holistic digital plan
  • Thorough understanding of the programmatic landscape including: 
    • managed services
    • self service platforms
    • CV services
    • brand safety providers
    • data and insights providers
  • Deep understanding of data driven planning including planning and use of first and third party data 
  • Understanding of digital advertising data sources including:
    • advanced attribution methodologies
    • third party tracking and measurement/campaign management technology
  • Very efficient, producing significant output with minimal wasted effort
  • Remain focused under pressure and can get stuff done 
  • Loves learning and teaching new things
  • Great interpersonal and listening skills
  • Very organised, with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and find solutions without help
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate complex subjects simply

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in and loving a start-up environment
  • Familiarity with planning and buying paid social and search
  • Experience using data visualisation tools like Tableau and Google Data Studio
  • Experience of specialist VOD DSPs (eg AVX, Freewheel)
  • Experience of pitching for new business opportunities, producing presentations and strategies in response to new business briefs and building relationships with prospective clients
  • Expert Excel/Google Sheets user and great with Word/Docs and PowerPoint/Slides
  • Ability to work with senior clients on key strategy projects, comfortable presenting to C-level audiences
